Story from the Winnipeg Free Press detailing how Immigration Minister Jason Kenny threw his own bureaucrats under the pass after the fake citizenship ceremony broadcast a couple months ago by the Ministry of Truth.
Here’s the money shot:
An hour earlier, under the subject line “What we will say,” a political staffer in Kenney’s office wrote: “We didn’t know about this. Sun TV didn’t know about this.”
The hits just keep on coming, folks. We all know that a UN report came out a little while ago stating Canada was complicit in humans rights violations (ie. torture). Dear leader has until June 2013 to respond. Wonder who’s to blame this time: The liberals, the NDP?
On behalf of all Candians: Sorry, world.
Well, folks, here are the goods, straight from the mouth of former Australian PM Malcolm Fraser (quotes added by me):
It is a pity the current “Canadian” Government, in relation to cluster munitions, does not provide any real lead to the world Its approach is timid, inadequate and regressive.
He also accuses “our” government of abandoning Canada’s traditional international leadership. The real kick in the pants, however, comes a little further down from former foreign arms negotiator Earl Turcotte:
It falls way below even the minimum threshold of legality under international humanitarian law and is an insult to colleagues in other countries who, seemingly unlike Canada, have negotiated in good faith
Well, there you have it folks, a little more tarnish on our reputation and more bridges we spent so long building going up in flames. We should all be embarrassed by this, but ~24% of us (39.6% of 61.1%) even more so.
I’ve never been in the military or put my life on my line for my country, but I do have a good friend who has and he thanks ${deity} every day that he was lucky enough to come back in good health and spirit of mind.
Were I in his position, reading dear leader’s endless rah-rah drivel would piss me off to no end, especially as I’d see friends who weren’t so lucky being denied the help they need to transition back into some reasonable semblance of a normal life.
Nothing, however, pisses me off more than this:
As we offer our heartfelt gratitude to all members of the Canadian Armed Forces – both past and present – let us also give thanks to their families whose love and support give our troops the strength to continue their important work.
There is no greater way to say thank you than by cutting support and services for people who have had parts of their bodies blown off by IEDs or have issues brought about by watching heads explode through the sight of their rifle for a few months. Apparently.
Soldier who got an axe to the head fighting terrorists would like to point out environmental groups don’t really compare.
